Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement
VOKASINDO: Jurnal Terapan Bisnis, Agribisnis, dan Informatika
VOKASINDO is a peer-reviewed and open-access journal committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. This statement describes the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publishing process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Ethical Principles
VOKASINDO is dedicated to ensuring:
Integrity and transparency in scholarly publishing
Originality and novelty of submitted manuscripts
Fair, objective, and confidential peer-review process
Prevention of publication malpractice, including plagiarism, data falsification, and unethical research practices
2. Duties of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to VOKASINDO must comply with the following ethical responsibilities:
2.1 Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Any use of others’ work or words must be properly cited. Manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software. The similarity index must not exceed 20%, excluding references and quotations.
2.2 Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal or publish substantially similar content in multiple publications.
2.3 Data Accuracy and Integrity
Authors must present accurate data and provide sufficient detail to allow replication. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is unethical and unacceptable.
2.4 Authorship and Contribution
Authorship should reflect significant contributions to the research. All contributors who made substantial contributions should be listed as co-authors, and all co-authors must approve the final manuscript.
2.5 Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that may influence the research results or interpretation.
2.6 Ethical Clearance
Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data must include evidence of ethical approval from relevant ethics committees.
3. Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for:
3.1 Publication Decisions
Editors decide which articles to publish based on validity, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
3.2 Fair Play
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on intellectual merit, without regard to authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
3.3 Confidentiality
Editors must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher.
3.4 Conflict of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished materials for personal research and must recuse themselves when conflicts of interest arise.
4. Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to:
4.1 Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews to assist editorial decisions and improve manuscript quality.
4.2 Confidentiality
Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
4.3 Objectivity
Provide evaluations based on academic merit, avoiding personal criticism.
4.4 Source Acknowledgment
Identify relevant published work not cited by the authors.
4.5 Conflict of Interest
Decline review if conflicts of interest exist.
5. Duties of Publisher / Journal Management
The publisher and editorial office commit to:
Maintaining editorial independence
Ensuring fair peer-review processes
Providing permanent article archiving
Preventing commercial influence on editorial decisions
Handling ethical complaints professionally
6. Plagiarism Policy
VOKASINDO applies strict plagiarism screening using recognized detection software. Manuscripts exceeding 20% similarity (excluding references) will be rejected or returned for revision.
7. Policy on Ethical Oversight
The journal actively monitors:
Research involving human participants
Animal experimentation
Consent procedures
Protection of vulnerable groups
Handling of confidential data
8. Handling of Misconduct
In cases of suspected misconduct, including:
Plagiarism
Data fabrication or falsification
Duplicate publication
Citation manipulation
VOKASINDO follows COPE flowcharts in investigating and resolving complaints. Actions may include rejection, retraction, correction, or banning submissions for a defined period.
9. Retraction and Correction Policy
If significant errors or ethical breaches are discovered post-publication:
Articles may be retracted, corrected, or withdrawn.
Retraction notices will be clearly published.
10. Complaints and Appeals
Authors may submit appeals or complaints regarding editorial decisions. All cases will be handled fairly, transparently, and confidentially by the editorial board.
